Your Driver Qualification Card. Tested on-site at Sheffield S9. Included in your course.
You cannot work as a paid professional HGV driver without your Driver CPC. Module 4 is the practical side of that qualification. Most training schools make you travel to a separate DVSA venue to take it. At Go Big, it is tested on-site at our Sheffield S9 base. Included in your course. No extra booking. No extra travel. You get it done here.
Book Your CPC Module 4 on 0114 357 0000The external problem is simple and non-negotiable: without an initial Driver CPC you cannot legally drive professionally. It is not optional. It is not something you can do later. Without it, employers cannot put you behind the wheel of a commercial vehicle.
The internal problem is that Module 4 feels mysterious. Most candidates know it involves a vehicle inspection but are not sure exactly what will be asked, how strict it is, or what happens if they miss something. That uncertainty is the first thing we clear up.
The logistical problem is that many schools treat CPC as an afterthought. They tell you to book your own Module 4 test at a separate DVSA centre, on a separate day, with no preparation built in. We do not do that. Go Big is a DVSA-approved CPC Module 4 test centre. The test happens here.
No DQC means no professional driving work
It is a legal requirement. Employers check. Without it, you cannot take the job.
Module 4 feels unclear
You know it is a vehicle safety check, but you are not sure what you will be asked or how thorough it is.
Other schools send you elsewhere
A separate test centre on a separate day means separate travel, separate stress, and separate cost.
Most training schools are not approved test centres. They train you for Module 4 and then send you to a separate venue to take it. At Go Big, the test takes place on-site at our Sheffield S9 base. It is one of the reasons students travel from across the UK to train here.
The test takes approximately 30 minutes. You are asked to demonstrate your knowledge of vehicle safety and inspection: identifying faults, explaining checks, and completing practical tasks on the vehicle. An examiner watches and assesses.
It is not a driving test. It is a demonstration of professional knowledge. When you have been prepared properly, it is manageable. We demystify every step before you walk into that test.
Taking Module 4 at the same site where you trained has a practical advantage: you know the vehicle. You have been working on it all week. The checks you are asked to demonstrate are the same ones you have been doing in training.
No travel to an unfamiliar venue. No unfamiliar vehicle. No extra booking. Just the test, done well, in a place you already know.
Tell Dan which course you are on or whether you need a standalone Module 4 test. He will check the schedule, confirm the cost, and get you booked in. The test takes place at Sheffield S9.
Available standalone or as part of any course
If you are doing Module 4 as part of a course, your instructor covers the vehicle safety check during training. You know what to look for, what to say, and how the examiner assesses it before you go in. Nothing is left to chance.
Built into your training week
The DVSA examiner conducts your Module 4 assessment here. The test covers vehicle safety, tyres, lights, brakes, load security, and emergency equipment. It takes approximately 30 minutes. You walk out with your result.
On-site · Sheffield S9
Identifying vehicle defects and safety faults
You walk around the vehicle and identify items the examiner points to.
Explaining checks: tyres, lights, brakes, fluids
You describe how you would check each item and what you are looking for.
Coupling and uncoupling (CE students)
Demonstrating the procedure step by step. We prepare you thoroughly for this.
Practical safety tasks under assessment
Completing tasks as directed by the examiner and explaining your actions.
Failing Module 4 is rare when you have been properly prepared. But it happens at schools that treat it as an afterthought. We do not.
No DQC means no professional driving work, regardless of your licence category
Separate venue means separate travel, separate cost, and separate stress
Poor preparation leads to a failed Module 4 and a resit delay
You have your licence and your DQC. You are legally qualified to drive professionally. Every employer can check the box. You turn up on your first day ready to work.
Practical licence plus DQC equals a complete, employable professional HGV driver.
No second venue. No separate booking. Module 4 tested here and folded into your training week.
CPC Module 4 is not a box to tick. It is proof you know your vehicle. We prepare you to feel that way.
